MEDIA RELEASE 10 DECEMBER 2016 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CYBERSECURITY MALAYSIA AND CYBERCRIME INVESTIGATION AND COORDINATION CENTER OF PHILIPPINES ESTABLISHED BILATERAL COOPERATION ON CYBER SECURITY KUALA LUMPUR (13 DECEMBER 2016) – CyberSecurity Malaysia, an agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) on 8 December 2016 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), an agency under the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Philippines to kick-starting bilateral collaboration and cooperation in reducing cyber security incidents. The MoU was signed between Dato’ Dr. Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab, the Chief Executive Officer, CyberSecurity Malaysia and Rodolfo A. Salalima, Secretary of Department of Information and Communications Technology, Republic of the Philippines. The brief ceremony took place in Manila during the launching of Philippines National Cybersecurity Plan in conjunction with Microsoft’s Cybersecurity Summit 2016 organized for the public sector in the effort to combat cybercrime. The MoU serves to provide a framework for understanding and cooperation between the two organizations for exchange of information on current threats and strategies to increase effectiveness of cyber security incident response, to respond and mitigate cross-border incidents, especially those that affect both countries and sharing of experiences and knowledge to increase skill and expertise between both parties. “As an agency in charge of securing the Malaysian’s cyberspace and with the exposure as well as experiences, we will definitely have a lot to share with the Philippines in terms of cyber security best practices.” said Dato’ Dr. Haji Amirudin Abdul Wahab.
