- A collegiate body established by and acting in support of the National Security Council (NSC); acts in accordance with the strategic political guidelines issued by the National Security Council in the crisis in which his action is required
- Supports the National Security Council in its role of directing and coordinating the actions of crisis management, as well as in the other functions of the Council, reinforcing the coordinated action of the different Public Administrations involved with competences in crisis management, with anticipatory vision and integral response
- In accordance with Order PRA / 32/2018, manages cyber security crisis situation which, on account of their cross-cutting nature or extent, exceed the response capabilities of the usual mechanisms
