- Description
- Structured in three Divisions (C4, Security and Cyber Defence, Cyber Operations), it reports directly to the Chief of the Defence Staff;
- It merges previous organizations, the Joint Command for Cyber Operations (CIOC) and the Joint C4 Command;
- It ensures the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) and security framework of:
- The Information Technology/C4 systems in the Joint arena, including the Communication Information System (CIS) interface towards the Intelligence Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR) component;
- The joint capability assets aimed at conducting Cyber Network Operations;
- It manages the Defence Network, the joint Information Communication Technology (ICT) services and several centralized ICT capabilities;
- It ensures the integration of the Security Operation Center (SOC)/ Network Operation Center (NOC) /Infrastructure Operation Center (IOC);
- It plans, prepares and conducts Cyber operations, against any possible threat or adversary action to Defence networks, systems and IT services, at home or in the Theatre of Operation (through the Cyber Operation Cells – COC);
- It defines the security architecture and the configuration of the systems due to protect the info-structure, ensuring the correct functionality; Operational 24/7, its Defence CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team) and SOC/NOC/IOC provide incident prevention and rapid response capability;
- It ensures, with the establishment of a new Classified Communication Systems, a more structured and efficient CIS support to Joint Operations.
