CYBERSECURITY MALAYSIA AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
AUTHORITY (ITA) OMAN SEALED A MEMORANDUM OF
UNDERSTANDING TO STRENGTHEN THE CYBER SECURITY
COOPERATION
Kuala Lumpur (21 October 2015) – CyberSecurity Malaysia, an agency under the Ministry
of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) has sealed a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) with the Information Technology Authority (ITA) of Oman pertaining to
cyber security. It was formalized in Muscat, Oman on 11 October 2015.
Dr. Amirudin Abdul Wahab, CEO of CyberSecurity Malaysia and Dr. Salim Sultan Al Ruzaiqi,
CEO of Information Technology Authority (ITA) Oman signed the agreement on behalf of the
two organizations.
According to Dr. Amirudin, “Whenever a new technology is created and then used by the
public, there will be threats and risks associated with it. Thus, a security organization like
CyberSecurity Malaysia must believe and practice continuous learning and develop a keen
sense of anticipation about what’s trending online and what threats are discovered by users.”
“Therefore, global coalition via international response is very important. For example, they
can provide us relevant information about new cyber threats that they encounter. Thus,
global coalition via international response is the answer and possible solution to counter the
impending as well as ever increasing cyber threats.”
“As cyber threats, cyber criminal and cyber terrorism continues to implicate fear, corrupt and
disrupt our cyber space, it is crucial to continuously put the efforts to provide protection,
education and forge strategic alliances towards the creation of a safe cyber environment for
