GLOSSARY
Broadband
Transmission capacity that is faster than
primary rate Integrated Services Digital
Network (ISDN) at 2.0 Megabits per second
(Mbps).
Broadcasting:
A term referring to the distribution of
information using radio, television, Internet
and intranet or webcasting.
Cybersquatting:
Registering, selling or using a domain name
with the intent of profiting from the goodwill of
someone else’s trademark.
Digital Divide:
The technological gap between countries that
have fully exploited ICT and those that have
not. The digital divide is often associated
with the resulting gap in terms of economic
development.
e-commerce/e-transaction: Business activities involving consumers,
manufacturers, suppliers, service providers and
intermediaries using computer networks such
as the Internet.
e-service:
e-service represents one prominent application
of utilizing the use of information and
communication technologies in different areas.
It includes among others e-commerce and other
non-commercial services.
e-government:
The use of information and communications
technology by the government to transform
relations with citizens, businesses, and within
different arms of government.
e-waste:
Discarded ICT equipment including computers,
office electronic equipment, entertainment
device electronics, mobile phones, television
sets, and refrigerators.
