A likely scope of tasks for the agency would therefore include:
• analysis, market monitoring and reporting on digitisation,
• c onsultation and advisory services for consumers and businesses, along with practical
assistance,
• reducing macroeconomic information and coordination costs,
• s upport for important user sectors (industry, services) in utilising the potential of
digitisation,
• dispute settlement and handling consumer complaints,
• c ontact and cooperation with municipalities, the federal states, European and international bodies as well as with companies, associations and other stakeholders.
In addition to formalising the Digital Agenda, the Digital Agency will also be
concerned with creating sustainable digitisation competence in economic, legal
and technical aspects. With a view to the partly evolutionary and partly revolutionary effects of digitisation and connectivity, the dynamism of this development should be scientifically analysed and continually monitored (technology
assessment). With this basis of knowledge and experience in the digital transformation, the Agency, in its function as an economically neutral think tank, would
be predestined to advise the federal government on digitisation.
