MEDIA RELEASE 3 November 2016 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CYBERSECURITY MALAYSIA AND KISA SIGN MOU TO STRENGTHEN COLLABORATION IN CYBER SECURITY KUALA LUMPUR (3 NOVEMBER 2016) – CyberSecurity Malaysia, an agency under the the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), an agency under the Republic of Korea Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate and enhance cooperation in the field of cyber security. Both agencies agreed to exchange, develop and consolidate their knowledge and experiences in the areas of cyber security incidents and the response management, threats and risk management, training and awareness, research and development and critical information infrastructure protection. Both agencies also agreed to exchange human resources to facilitate the development of national cyber security legal and regulatory frameworks; training, research and development; and to mutually respond to cyber threats. The Chief Executive Officer of CyberSecurity Malaysia, Dr. Amirudin Abdul Wahab and the President and Chief Executive Officer of KISA, Mr. Keeseung Baik signed the MoU for their respective agencies. The MoU was signed during KISA’s official visit to CyberSecurity Malaysia’s office this morning. “In a borderless world we are living today, international cooperation is increasingly important to mitigate threats that comes with it,” said Dr. Amirudin. “This arrangement with our South Korean counterpart will strengthen the efforts of both agencies to protect cyber security in both countries and in this region,” he added.
