- Represents the national Law enforcement Agency in charge of preventing and combating cybercrime, especially in the following areas:
- Protection of Critical IT Infrastructures (operated by the National Cybercrime Center for Critical Infrastructure Protection-CNAIPIC, which is responsible for the prevention and repression of cybercrimes, of a common, organized or terrorist nature, against critical infrastructures and targets of national relevance);
- Cyber- attacks to the strategic structures of the Country;
- Security and integrity of national telecommunication services;
- Child exploitation and online protection of minors;
- Financial cybercrimes (IT Frauds, cyber money-laundering, etc.);
- Prevention and combating of the online terrorist activities and propaganda;
- Internet piracy;
- Represents the national Point of Contact of the 24/7 Network established in the framework of the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime of the Council of Europe;
- Represents the national “Law Enforcement Authority” (“Autorità di Contrasto”) in the framework of EU NIS Directive;
- Represents the national LEA of reference for international police cooperation (Europol, Interpol, Council of Europe, G7, etc.), in the field of cybercrime.
