The Marine Corps Headquarters operates the Quick Task Forces and the Quick Reaction
Forces. The Northwest Islands Defense Command is responsible for security and defense
missions of the northwestern islands and also provides logistics support and training support
to the Navy.
To be able to effectively respond to the various types of surface, underwater and airborne
threats, the Navy plans to acquire next-generation submarines (KSS-III), Aegis-class destroyers, destroyers (KDDX), frigates (FFX), patrol killer mediums, surface patrol aircraft and
developed into a force capable of carrying out a diverse range of missions including multi-dimensional high-speed amphibious operations and the defense of strategic islands.
