CHAPTER I GENERAL PROVISIONS Article 1 The object This law aims at defining the rules for the protection and legal processing of the personal data. Article 2 General Principle The legal processing of the personal data shall respect and guarantee the fundamental rights and freedoms of persons and in particular their right to privacy. Article 3 Definitions For the purposes of this law, the following terms have these meanings: 1. “Personal data” shall mean any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identification number or to one or more factors specific to his physical, physiological, mental, economic, cultural or social identity. 4 5
