Executive Summary: Grenada is an independent state comprising three island: Grenada (120 sq miles), Carriacou (13 sq miles) and Petit Martinique. The capital is the city of St.George, situated on the south western part of the mainland. Grenada experiences a warm tropical climate, with two main seasons. The temperature ranges from 20 to 30 degree centigrade with mean temperature of 25 degree centigrade and annual rain fall of 1380 mm with humidity ranging from 65 to 75 %. The National Strategic Plan will translate the Vision of the Government of Grenada into a set of policies and actions to enable the exploitation of information and communication technologies as a tool of national development. The Plan will seek to put information and communication technologies (ICT) at the centre of Grenada's economic development as a dynamic industry sector in itself, and in support of the development of other sectors of the economy. The Plan should pursue the following objectives • Raise and develop awareness, build vision and generate enthusiasm about the advantageous use of ICT in everyday social and economic life • Design and implement policies to capture information and knowledge for development • Promote and build connectivity and the necessary infrastructure for access to information and development • Build required human and social capacities and institutions, and provide training and education to impart requisite skills • Create new livelihood and employment opportunities; 7 A STRATEGY AND ACTION PLAN FOR GRENADA Anurag Sinha
