CONCLUSION
DHS believes that cyberspace can be made safe and secure for the functioning of government,
the delivery of essential services, and the everyday lives of the American people. DHS will
maintain a leadership role, collaborating with other federal agencies, the private sector, and other
stakeholders, across all of its cybersecurity mission areas to ensure that cybersecurity risks are
effectively managed, critical networks are protected, vulnerabilities are mitigated, cyber threats
are reduced and countered, incidents are responded to in a timely way, and the cyber ecosystem
is more secure and resilient. Meeting the goals and objectives outlined in this strategy requires a
unified, long-term approach across the Department. Aligning departmental network protection
and law enforcement authorities with traditional risk management, information sharing, and
incident response efforts will enhance DHS cybersecurity efforts moving forward and provide
the Nation with a secure cyberspace for future generations.
