The analysis of general trends and operations conducted over the last twenty years has validated many principles and guidelines for the development of the armed forces, already established in technical publications such as the Long-term Planning Document and the Strategic Concept of the Defence Staff in 2005. In general terms, the positive results achieved by the military in operations over the last twenty years, demonstrate both the validity of the transformation process undertaken in the past by the military component and the need to build and rapidly optimize the military, in line with the economic reality of the country and with the changes, which are taking place or are foreseeable in security scenarios in the interest of the nation.
