The rise of cybercrime has a negative socio-economic effect on the nation’s integrity and the citizens.     • It is cardinal principle of this policy to put in place appropriate proactive measures towards preventing threats to the nation’s cyberspace while mitigating the impact on its citizens.   • The proactive policy measures recognized global principles on cybersecurity and will work towards addressing the following objectives:   a. Technical measures to identify, monitor, detect, prevent, respond and investigate cybercrime. b. Legal measures to deter, investigate, prosecute, and punish cybercrime c. Economic measures to provide appropriate assistance to combat cybercrime. d. Social measures and capacity building aimed at raising awareness among Nigerian nationals towards reducing the nation’s cybersecurity exposure footprint. e. Fostering of international commitment and cooperation against cybercrime. iii.
