Inrecommending an individual for the position of
commissioner, the Committee shall—
(a)
be guided by the merit of the individual taking
particular account of his expertise and
experience relevant to the position;
(b)
consider any technical advice necessary to
evaluate the merit of the individual;
(c)
determine the terms and conditions of
appointment of the commissioner, including
without limitation remuneration, benefits,
reimbursements, allowances and time required
to be spent in Solomon Islands, taking into
account the need to attract suitably qualified
candidates for the position; and
(d)
recommend only an individual who has—
(i)
consented to being appointed as
commissioner;
(ii)
agreed to the remuneration, benefits
and allowances of the position; and
(iii)
agreed to be present in Solomon
Islands for a sufficient period to
perform his duties effectively.
