The ICT Strategies adopted as part of the National ICT Policy will subsequently be elaborated in more detail in action plans, which will set out specific action items, timelines, and parties responsible for each. D. Accessible ICT 74. In order for the substantial benefits that are offered by increased use of ICT to be realised in daily life, it is essential that users can in fact have access to those ICT. Perhaps the most fundamental challenge confronting Solomon Islands as it endeavours to take full advantage of ICT is that for many individuals and organizations ICT are at present difficult and expensive to access. In order for ICT to be able to contribute to poverty alleviation, support economic development, and provide other benefits that are expected from them, ICT must be available, accessible and affordable to users. 76. Improving the accessibility of ICT is closely connected to achieving key national development objectives, in particular:  1: Alleviate poverty and improve the lives of Solomon Islanders in a peaceful and stable society.  5: Increase economic growth and equitably distribute employment and income benefits.
