(a)
to make recommendation to the Commission on the principles of
allocation of radio frequency and fixation of fees for such
frequency;
(b)
to make recommendation to the Commission for specifying the
radio frequencies to be used for operating radio apparatus or for
providing services by various licensees, broadcasting enterprises
and other organizations ;
(c)
to make recommendation to the Commission on the methods and
time-limits of allocation of radio frequencies and the revocation or
modification thereof;
(d)
to co-ordinate the international and multipurpose use of radio
frequency and to frame policies thereon, to present such policy for
approval of the Commission and to revise from time to time the
policies approved by the Commission;
(e)
to revise matters relating to radio frequency band in order to
ensure their proper use and receipt of better information by using
such band;
(f)
to determine the technical standards applicable to radio apparatus
or interference causing apparatus; and to make recommendation on
the issuance of technical acceptance certificates;
(g)
to make recommendation on the issuance of licence for radio
apparatus;
(h)
to monitor the compliance of the provisions of this Act and
regulations in respect of the use of the allocated radio frequency
spectrum, and to make suggestions on the actions to be taken, if
any.
(6)
The Commission may direct the Committee to perform functions other
than those mentioned in sub-section (5).
(7)
In exercising powers, performing functions and duties under sub-section
(5), the Committee shall follow the applicable criteria specified or recommended by the
International Telecommunication Union or by its concerned Standing Committee or by
other organization.
