- The National Security Authority (the Authority) is the central government body for Protection of Classified Information, Cryptographic Services, Trust Services and Cyber Security;
- In 2016 the Authority assumed responsibility for cyber security matters in Slovakia.
- Among others, the Authority:
- Manages and coordinates carrying out of state administration;
- Determines the standards, operational procedures, issues the methodology and policy of behaviour in cyberspace;
- Determines the principles for preventing cybersecurity incidents and principles for their handling;
- Elaborates the National Cybersecurity strategy and the annual report on the state of cybersecurity in the Slovak Republic in cooperation with the respective state authorities;
- Is a national point of contact for cybersecurity for foreign entities and ensures cooperation with the respective points of contact of other member states of the EU and the NATO;
- Carries out obligations of notification and reporting in relation to the appropriate authorities of the EU and the NATO and participates in and supports forming cybersecurity partnerships at a national and international level;
- Fulfils the tasks of the competent authority for digital services, etc.
- The Authority also has the status of National CSIRT Unit.
