The Structure will involve the key public-facing government agencies and business organisations, and provide
platforms for decision makers to discuss and make decisions to drive ICT initiatives that ultimately bring
benefits to the nation as a whole.
Additionally the central department must have the support of Cabinet and the entire Government and must be
empowered by Cabinet to carry out its mandate.

1.
Creation of a Central Information Technology Department
The Government will create a central implementation and oversight department to manage the national EGovernment agenda. The Department will have responsibility for the provision of ICT consulting and support
services to Government Ministries, Divisions and Agencies with the aim of ensuring effective alignment, coordination, security, interoperability and cost effectiveness of ICT related projects and initiatives across
Government.
This Department will be set up to be the ICT implementation arm for whole of Government initiatives with a
focus on the optimal deployment and use of ICTs within Government and the effective delivery of Government
e-services.
