taken by the Public Solicitor.
(4) If the Chairman of the Law Reform Commission is
absent, the members shall select one of the members to act as
Chairman of the Committee during such absence.
The Minister shall call for and arrange a meeting of

the Committee, failing which the Committee shall meet—
(a)
at least three months prior to the expiry of the
term of the commissioner;
(b)
within one month of becoming aware that the
position of commissioner is likely to become
vacant other than due to expiry of the term of
the commissioner; or
(c)
within one week of becoming aware of the
position of commissioner becoming
unexpectedly vacant.
The Committee shall determine its own procedures
(6)
and may engage consultants to assist it in its duties.
(7)
The Committee shall—
(a)
select a person pursuant to an open,
competitive and transparent selection process
that seeks to identify well-qualified
candidates, including publishing
advertisements for applications nationally and
(at least until the fifteenth anniversary of the
commencement date) internationally,
reviewing any available references and
holding interviews;
(b)
invite proposals for candidates from the
public and invite comments from service
providers, including any recognised service
provider association, regarding candidates
under consideration, and take into account
such comments; and
(c)
recommend to the Minister an individual for
the position of commissioner from among
_ candidates identified in the selection process.
