Annex 3: Definitions The definitions manual is given to explain the context in which the terms are used. Confidential Information maintained by government organizations that is exempt from being disclosed and disseminated. Desktop system A computer with a chassis containing a system board which holds a CPU, and has slots for expansion cards, buses, storage controllers, display, removable media writer, networking, input, and other peripherals. External audit An audit carried out by an independent/outside party, usually the Auditor General’s Department. Government Information infrastructure This refers to LGN a shared government wide network expected to serve different users with varying performance and bandwidth requirements. Government organizations Ministries, government Departments, Provincial Councils, District Secretariats, and Divisional Secretariats Local Government Authorities, government owned companies and statutory boards. Hub Organizations where the central databases are located to which data is sent from one or more directions /organizations. ICT literacy The ability to use word processing software, spreadsheets, email, browse the Internet and search, and the ability to organize and manage files and folders. ICT Services Activities such as hardware support, Consulting, Software support and implementation services, and web designing etc. Internal auditors An internal audit, which is usually carried out by people in the Audit Units of the relevant Ministry, and carried out for reasons of good management.
