Organization within the National Intelligence Centre (CNI), set up in 2004 to guarantee ICT security in different public administration entities and security for systems that process, store or send out classified information

In accordance with the Royal Decree 421/2004, 12th March, is assigned the following functions:

• Normative: Prepare and disseminate standards, instructions, guidelines and recommendations to ensure the security of ICT systems (CCN-STIC Guides)
• Training: Train public sector personnel specialized in the field of security
• Compliance monitoring: Ensure compliance with regulations regarding the protection of classified information in its area of ​​competence
• Development: Coordinate the promotion, development, procurement, acquisition and start-up and use of security technologies
• Evaluation: Evaluate and prove the capacity of the code products and systems to manage information in a secure manner
• Certification: Constitute the Certification Body of the National Scheme for Security Assessment and Certification, applicable to products and systems in its field
• Cybersecurity: Contribute to the improvement of Spanish cybersecurity, through the CCN-CERT, actively addressing threats affecting public sector systems, companies and organizations of strategic interest to the country, in coordination with the National Center for the Protection of Critical Infrastructures (CNPIC) and any ICT system that processes classified information
• Relations: Establish the necessary relationships and sign the relevant agreements with similar organizations in other countries, for the development of the aforementioned functions
