BE it enacted by the Parliament of the Dertnocratic
Socialist
Republic of Sri Lanka ay follows -1. This Act may be cited as the Computer
Crime Act,
No.24 of 2007 and shall come inta Operation
on such date as
the Minister may by Order publishea in the
Gazerre appoint
Short title.
(hereinafter referred to as the “appointed date’),

(1) The provisions of this Act shall apply wher

a person commits an offence under this Act
while
being present in Sri Lanka or outside
Sri Lanka ;
the computer,
computer
system
or information
affected or which was to be affected, by the act
which
constitutes an offence under this Act,
was at the
material time in Sri Lanka or outside
Sri Lanka ;
ic)
the facility or service, including any compu
ter
storage, or data or information processing servic
e,
used in the commission of an offence
under this
Aci was at the material time situated in Sri
Lanka or
outside Sri Lanka ; or
(7)
the loss or damage
is caused within or outside Sri
Lanka by the commission of an offence under
this
Act, to the State or to a person resident jn Sti
Lanka
or outside Sri Lanka.

(2) For the purposes of paragraph (cf) of subsec
tion (1)
“person” includes a body of persons
corporate or
unincorperate.
